The horses are saddled and once we have packed our lunch boxes and cameras into the saddle bags we are off on the first of our wonderful adventures into this flower filled alpine environment.

We follow the Lindis River, which at this time of year is filled with beautiful lupines and the air is heady with the scent.

The mountains flank our trail making us feel very small in comparison as we head through the Lindis Pass following the meandering Lindis River.

The afternoon ride sees us continue along the Lindis River heading to Dunstan Downs Station shearers quarters for our evenings accommodation.

Your camera will be exhausted at the end of the day!

Luckily, we have electricity, hot showers and comfy beds tonight.

We enjoy a glass of wine with a hearty Kiwi roast dinner and desert

Day 2 – 10am start _6 hours riding

After a farm cooked breakfast, tucker boxes packed we say goodbye to Dunstan Downs. Heading back onto the lupin trail, we ride in and out of the flowers all day long as we head towards the picturesque clay cliffs.

Following the crystal clear Ahuriri River the mountain ranges are a site to behold from our flower based, horse heaven.

Lunch is on the banks of the Ahuriri River.

The afternoon sees us ride towards the Clay Cliffs which are a stark sight- tall pinnacles separated by narrow ravines. These otherworldly formations are made up of layers of gravel and silt. Originally they were formed by the flow from ancient glaciers over a million years ago. (Thanks to 100% pure NZweb site)

From here we will ride back to Omarama Station shearer’s quarters our accommodation for the evening.

Lovely comfy beds, hot showers and evening meal in the cook shop.

We can arrange for a hot tub at the Omarama Hot tubs if you so desire, this will be an additional cost.
